/ interdisciplinary artist, scholar, and writer passionate about how art and the creative actions of everyday citizens transform city and society

My work explores how art and the creative actions of everyday citizens transform city and society, from acts of civil disobedience to diverse forms of public art. I am particularly interested in the artful interventions of graffiti, street art, artistic activism, and climate activism.

I use photography as a primary way to explore art in the city and work at the forefront of what I call critical urban photography — the use of photography to answer critical questions about cities.

I am the founder and leader of the independent research platform the Institute for Art & Environment (I-AE) and the newly launched LAX LAB 2.0 | school of climate fiction.
